Looking Ahead: Changes for 2018

January 9, 2018 By Cheryl Savit

“There is nothing permanent except change.” Heraclitus

th-1Shakespeare wrote about the “ever-whirling wheel of change” and now I find myself in the midst of many changes as 2018 takes shape. My stubborn optimism provides me with the belief that this is an opportunity for growth, new challenges and, well, more growth – professionally and personally.

I am grateful for all that I have accomplished and learned in 2017. There were highs – awards for clients, editorial placements and publicity, and participation in some marketing and PR groups that helped me to learn even more about what I do and can do for my clients. And there were lows – disappointments and parting company with a longtime client.

Looking ahead

As I search for some new clients/gigs and forge new relationships, I am mindful of what is most important to me: professional and personal growth, integrity, respect, appreciation, and creativity. I have decided to invest in myself, hiring a business coach, and developing a plan to redesign and relaunch my website. 2018 is filled with promise!

I am indebted to the friends and colleagues who have advised me, encouraged me and supported me throughout 2017. I look forward to always returning the favor.

The meaning of the feather…

As most of you know, there is a feather in my logo, created by my good and talented friend and collaborator, Rob Silsby of CreativeX2 Studio. Originally I saw it as a quill that represented what I love most: writing. But then I am reminded of the scene from Forrest Gump where the feather floats in the air, seeming to go in different directions. But it is because of its lightness that it can move in many directions. And so now I see another purpose of the feather: to remind myself to be light, be flexible, move easily (but with intent), and, as the poet Emily Dickinson said, to remain hopeful.

“Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul and sings the tune without words and never stops at all.” – Emily Dickinson

Change happens. My job is to embrace the changes, the hope and the growth. Join me.
